After years of success as an outstanding artist, musician and songwriter,
Janey Street has completed her latest project, "The Street Less Traveled,"
which is, in her words, "the album I always wanted to record."
Janey's earlier albums on Arista, Capital and Warner/Reprise contained several
charting singles and led to memorable live performances throughout the U.S. and
Canada with the Bee Gees, Melanie, Richie Havens and Janis Ian, among others.
Janey's experience as an artist also fueled her passion to become an
outstanding songwriter. She has co-written with many hit composers, including
Gary Burr, Rick, Chudacoff and Janis Ian. Her songs have been recorded by artists
as diverse as Eric Anderson and Ruth Brown and have appeared in numerous television
and film projects.
Now, Janey has recorded a new, more personal album, "The Street Less Traveled."
Recorded in Nashville, the album contains eleven new,
blues-based cuts, all with the distinctive Janey Street sound. The album was
produced by Fred Mollin, whose previous credits include Kris Kristofferson,
Jimmy Webb, Dan Hill and Jennifer Warnes. The sessions were engineered by King Williams.
"The Street Less Traveled" features songs written by Janey, as well as selections
co-written with other outstanding Nashville songwriters, including Richard Fleming
(Koko Taylor, George Thorogood, Cary Bell), Fred Koller (John Prine, Kathy Mattea,
Jeff Healy Band), and Jonnie Barnett (Etta James, Ruth Brown, Clay Walker).
Notable musicians and singers joining Janey on the recording include: John
Jorgenson (Guitar), Kery Marks (Guitar), Larry Paxton (Bass), Katherine Styron
(Keyboards), Eddie Bayers (Drums), Jim Hoke and Neil Rosengarden (Horns), and Billy
Davis and Chip Davis (Backing Vocals).
"The Street Less Traveled" represents an exciting, new musical milestone in Janey Street's
outstanding career, and it will thrill her fans everywhere.
